Michael Keung

Siyu Jiang (Michael Keung) was born in Shenzhen, China in 1992. He began his violin studies at age of 5, and he started to play viola at age of 15. He studied at Shenzhen Arts School from 2009- 2013. He studied at Shanghai Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Nian Liu (of Han Quartet,) and Xi-Di Shen, from 2010 to 2014, which have had a great impact on his musical development. In fall of 2014, Siyu enrolled in the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music as a student of Prof. Masao Kawasaki’s. In 2016, he began studying with violist Jan Grüning (of Ariel Quartet). In 2018, CCM offered him full scholarship from GIA foundation for his master degree with Prof. Grüning. Siyu has participated and performed at various music festivals and master classes both in China and USA. On such occasions he had the chance to gain experience in working with internationally distinguished artists like Nobuko Imai, Wing Ho, Imai Viola Qurtet, Jay Liu, Wenxiao Zheng, Shanghai Quartet, Dimitri Murrath. In addition, Siyu has performed in Shenzhen Concert Hall, Shenzhen Poly Theater, Shanghai Concert Hall, China National Center for the Performing Arts. Hangzhou Grand Theatre, Sydney Opera House. For the teaching experience, Siyu started to teach professional viola student at Shenzhen Arts School since summer 2014, some of his students have been accepted by Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Shanghai.
