A Cincinnati native, Paul Moak started teaching privately and playing professionally while still in high school with chamber groups, cover bands, big bands, and jazz combos all over the greater Cincinnati area. He currently studies at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with Scott Belck and John Zappa, and is in the process of earning his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education with Jazz Specialization. As a member of the CCM Jazz Lab Band and the Jazz Orchestra, he has had the honor of performing with world-class musicians such as Branford Marsalis, John Von Ohlen, Craig Bailey, and Brian Newman.
He is passionate about both education and performance, and makes time to prioritize both as much as possible. He has had teaching positions with the CCM Prep Cincinnati Youth Jazz Orchestra (CYJO), the Madison High School Marching Band, and has been the Brass Technician for the Loveland High School Marching Band since Fall 2017. He has done studio work with various local groups, including a full-length album with the CCM Jazz Orchestra. You can find Paul playing around Cincinnati with jazz combos, big bands, chamber groups, pit orchestras, cover bands, the funk group The Almighty Get Down, or with his freelance horn section, The Horndogs.
